OERu Service Closure Notice

OERu will permanently close on 31 July 2026.

After this date, the website and its online services will no longer be available.

As part of the closure process, learner records and personal information held within the OERu platform will be securely deleted where they are no longer required to be retained.

If you wish to access or save any information from your account, please do so before 31 July 2026.

Thank you to everyone who has participated in the OERu community over the years.

UNESCO-COL Chair in OER, Athabasca University

UNESCO/COL Chair at Athabasca University supports the OER university.

The  UNESCO/COL Chair at Athabasca University, Professor Rory McGreal and his university are supporting the OERu as part of the Chair programme. They see the OERu as a critical support for the Chair goals in promoting OER and universal education. The Chair at AU is building the OER Knowledge Cloud to support research into the use of OER and particularly into the assessment and accreditation of learners using OER. This is a central goal of the OERu initiative.
