OERu will permanently close on 31 July 2026.

After this date, the website and its online services will no longer be available.

As part of the closure process, learner records and personal information held within the OERu platform will be securely deleted where they are no longer required to be retained.

The New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO has called on the Open Education Resource Foundation (OERF) to use their tested micro Open Online Course (mOOC) technique to deepen the understanding of open educational practices among educators in New Zealand and around the globe. Open educational resources (OER) and practices (OEP) encourage the rediscovery, reuse, and recontextualization of the world’s best teaching materials. Just as Open Source has revolutionized the software industry, open educational practices are providing exciting, classroom-refined options for teaching at all levels.
